Take care of Smelly Sweating

Sweating is normal body function that maintains body temperature and keep body internal environment perfectly normal, but in the months of summer, dealing with sweaty armpits is so embarrassing especially if it showed on cloths or start to smell. Sweat by itself has no smell but bacteria that reside on armpit and release a chemical called 3-methyl-2 hexenoic acid cause smeely armpit.
Excessive sweating is caused by many reasons including stress, menopause, puberty, and genetics.
Excessive sweating and smelly armpits is bad for hygiene and also resulting a lot of social phobia.
Management of Smelly Sweating
1.Clean armpits: Clean armpit daily before going out and back to home.
2.Remove underarm hair: Bacterial react to hair and sweat break down and start smelling.
3.Use deodorant: Help to reduce the bad smell.
4.Use antiperspirants: 10-15% of more strong aluminum chloride hexahydrate is usefully in excessive sweating
5.Oral anticholinergics medications help to prevent excessive sweating.
6.Use a good quality shower gel and take at least 2 showers a day.
7.Use good quality of cloths
If above method doesn’t work, physician consultation is required, treatment choice for doctors include:
1.Iontophoresis: Electricity to block the sweat gland and stop excessive sweating.
2.Botulinum toxin (botox): Temporarily block the nervous system that supplies the sweat gland with result in reduced excessive sweating.
3.Surgical management: Surgical resection of sweat glands, endoscopic sympathectomy (removal of sympathetic nerves symptom that supply the sweat glands) , radiofrequency ablation and thermo-coagulation used to disrupt the sympathetic never supply of sweat glands .
